HPP alum Nathan Guest is providing research assistance in an effort to save the Colebrookdale Spur, an 8.6 mile short line railroad in Burks County, PA.

Nathaniel C. Guest of Pottstown called Scott to offer his help after learning the line was endangered.

Guest, 33, is a longtime rail fan. He holds a law degree from Temple University and a master's degree in historic preservation planning from Cornell University.

He researched the line's history and compiled a report that Scott used in his quest to convince federal transportation authorities to turn down East Penn Railroad's request to abandon the line.

"During fall break CRP professors Michael Tomlan and Jeff Chusid accompanied 13 historic preservation and planning students to the annual meeting of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Nashville. Sustainability was the theme of this year’s conference. In addition to attending educational sessions, the HPP students manned the booth for the National Council for Preservation Education and spent time visiting the city’s historic sites. A stop was made on the trip down in Charlottesville, to tour Monticello and the University of Virginia."
